Budget Travel Guide // Pittsburgh 2018

Budget Travel Guide // Pittsburgh 2018

This past weekend I got to go home to Wheeling, WV and make a short trip to Pittsburgh, PA with my Mom. We went up for about 6 hours on Sunday morning into Sunday evening and had a great time - but there were a few misses as well.

Unfortunately, misses happen every once in a while while traveling and although they can be kind of a bummer, hopefully they don't affect your trip TOO much.

Below is everywhere we went including the highs & the lows...

Budget Travel Guide // Asheville 2018

We aren't prioritizing travel this year like we did last year [Asheville twice, Wheeling three times, Pittsburgh, Charleston SC, Wilmington, Boston, Latvia, Estonia & Finland!] but we ARE making a few trips for babies and weddings mostly, so I thought I'd share some Budget Friendly travel guides for the trips that we DO make this year - with the first one for Asheville.

3 Things I Hate Doing, But Do Anyway...

3 Things I Hate Doing, But Do Anyway...

I guess this would be considered part of 'adulting' - doing things you don’t like to do, or even hate, because you ‘have to’ - but really, we don’t have to do anything. That’s part of the myth of being a human. There isn’t anything we have to do. There’s a lot of societal pressure for us to do things we should do, but we don’t actually have to do any of it.

I’m a big fan of people coming to that realization so that they can then do the work to determine what they want to do with their lives instead of living the life they think they should. That being said, living a life you want still requires doing a lot that you don't want to do or even hate doing.

MONEY // Part 02

MONEY // Part 02

Debt. Most of us have it - in fact, according to a 2015 American Household Credit Card Debt Study, the average household with any of the following types of debt has $15,762 in credit card debt, $168,614 in mortgage debt, $27,141 in car loans and $48,172 in student loans - and an average of $130,922 TOTAL DEBT PER AMERICAN HOUSEHOLD! That. Is. NUTS.

In 2015, there were about 124.6 million American households - so if we're talking strictly averages here, that works out to over $16 TRILLION in debt! Think of what we as Americans could do for ourselves, our families, our country, our world if that wasn't the case!  What if we wanted more than just bigger and better STUFF?!?

MONEY // Part 01

MONEY // Part 01

It's June 2016 and that means it’s been three years since I started taking control of my finances. It feels like a life-time ago, I can’t even believe it’s only been three years! Since that time we’ve paid off over $40,000 - $30,000 of which was last year alone. So, that right there should clue you in on the fact that changing your life financially, or in any area, doesn’t happen overnight.

So, I want to take you back, back to the beginning of where I believe my money troubles started and hopefully my story can help at least one person out there re-route their mindset // behavior and start to move in the right direction.
